THE LATIN CRUCIFIX
Understanding Purpose
A Daystar Masterpiece on Sacrifice
What is purpose? Why are you here? What comes next, and what if every pursuit remains meaningless? What is life hereafter, and how does it feel to exit this cosmic space as a hypostatic figure? What is the objective of faith if it remains enclosed within a callous heart? Where does mission fit into our daily living? What is the cure for a bruised soul in a dark and festering world? What can be done, and what awaits us hereafter?
These are the questions we deeply fear and answer slowly. It is why we often turn our eyes away from the true reason for existence, ignoring the glare of mission in a world we encountered in time. Why we live is what will echo throughout eternity. Each day clangs against another, foretelling a story without words and weaving a tapestry of impact with the hands of sacrifice.
Someday, we will surely leave this world. Now, it is incumbent upon you to discover the meaning of life in Christ Jesus.
Kings and kingdoms have come and gone. There existed generations where nothing we possess today was considered the prized possession. Yet, man remains the same irrespective of the dispensations that have outlived others. Sadly, today’s concept of value and worth is largely misplaced.
We cannot ostracize the offspring of reason from a mind that warns us against living a meaningless life. To spend your entire existence pursuing money, gain, fame, and fading glory is akin to the boast of a king over a fallen kingdom already spiraling into ruin. Value, when understood outside the confines of God’s Word, is a misunderstanding in itself. It's an eyesore how man has in time turned against himself like one bitten by a wounded snake, seeing how betrayals and evil have become as common as Solomon's silver breaks the heart. The reason we came into a time such as this is to make a difference every day. Sadly, many people find themselves subsumed by the pressures of a failing world.
There was an age in the dawn of history where wars and conquests defined purpose and existence. Today, the narrative surrounding purpose has shifted. Until we recognize the absence of meaningful living, we will continue to wound everything around us, including the people who love us most.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.” At the cross, Jesus was remembered for living for others. Even the thieves who hung beside Him echoed the chronicles of His purpose. Their hearts chorused: “He saved others...”
He was remembered for others, and that one sacrifice still ripples throughout the known world today.
To live only for yourself is to misunderstand purpose, life, and existence. Live beyond yourself. Be inspired by the life Jesus lived, and lead a generation toward victory. I urge you to stop striving for meaningless gain. Retreat from running a life you do not own. Instead, run according to God’s calendar and the tenets of Scripture. This is the surest way to live a meaningful life that pleases the Lord.
One day, we will all retire from this world. When that time comes for you, where entertainment bores you to the core, I pray you will be at peace with yourself, having championed a meaningful conquest that outlives you. When your work here on earth is finally complete, I pray the Lord would be remembered when you're mentioned, having lived in His name.
Every theatre art we witness can be likened to life lived, it always comes to an end : with its actors and crew soon forgotten. Existence isn't enough, only impact can weave your relevance through the roots of time. There is nothing new under the sun. Live beyond yourself.
The bridge of sacrifice is the only path to escape the darkness of self pleasure, a bridge that can never be replaced as long we live — sacrifice is what fires up the dawn of peace and calm in the soul of every generation. Become an inspiration to our world, remember the crucifix and let your life count in saving others.
