DEALING WITH SUBTLE WORLDLINESS

I am so glad because, as at 1st August (the date of this article), it's been over two months of no movies, series or anything "sensually entertaining". You may not understand the joy I have in me for having this experience. I practically lived on series to eat and rest. 

Inasmuch as I made time for what mattered early on as a young minister, what majorly entertained me was movies and series, and I wouldn't mince words on that — the fact is, they kept my mind off what could be a bother to me, but that was not good enough an excuse, but I didn't know, and yes I've watched countless, you name it : but they're all vanity and destructive. They develop in you another character you can turn to when no one is watching. Sadly, I did not immediately notice the subtle communications and impact these contents had on me holistically.

Not long ago, I mentioned to a friend “Sound (logos) is a living thing (according to Hebrews 4:12, Moffat). And that is why when you listen, it moves you, because it's a living thing moving your soul, believe this!”.

It is high time you take careful and meticulous interest in your spiritual growth because satan is taking no chances at failing to damage our value system, especially as ministers of reconciliation. I could watch an 11year series in one month, yes I did, and on countless occasions. It even affected my eyesight, such hatred of the flesh on itself, that it could turn to bite itself, a carnivore. Terrible!

Till the Lord returns, I am determined to only commit my attention to godly contents, as the primal and only way to entertain and relax my mind, promoting meditation and inevitable growth. I could have kept this feat of exercise to myself, but I'm sharing it with you because I care. You can be a minister of the gospel and still be defeated privately, defeated in so many ways. Offering liberty to others but struggling with dark and subtle cunningness. Remember, we have an enemy that champions compromise. He'll tell you "don't worry, we'll forward the sex scenes when it gets there", but when last did you wilfully forward it, you rather explained it away thinking "well, why not learn it for marriage", and that's how we've exposed our emotions to serpentine attacks on the mind. 

Carnality and carnivore both originate from the same Latin root — meaning the beastly nature of the flesh, when let loose, will move you to devour even a Church member, and this is why ministers on the gospel get shocked after having affairs with their flock and leaders — Remember, King David, a man after God's own heart, the leader who raised Uriah, killed his own mighty man in the ministry just to cover up his tracks. This is David, a biblical character, yet because he allowed his eyes to be fixed onto a beautiful woman, the onset of Pornography and sensual sport — the carnivore (beast) in him arose and devoured his very own leader. This could be you, if you do not make a detour quickly. I fully understand every word I'm typing because I have examples for each of them. You could be next if you continue in that path, I can assure you of that. 

My dear, let's not deceive ourselves, let's be the canvas of what we profess and represent. We cannot mask what we preach, that's not good, not good. So am I asking you to get off that high horse of media entertainment, yes I am, because I can only imagine the damage it's already had on you. 

It was in a time of entertainment that King Herod let down his guard, saying to Herodias' daughter "ask anything, even to the half of my kingdom, and I'll give to you". And this was where the head of a priest, John the Baptist, was demanded. Listen, at the time of entertainment, so much is cut off from your moral system. The rulership (headship) of Gods word is decapitated, and this is where most of us compromise unawares. 

You might ask, "Sir, what then should I watch?" — well, I can only tell you what works for me. I watch videos of preachings, bible documentary, church history, inspiring interviews of ministers of the gospel, CBN (The 700 Club), TBN, Crusade classics, et cetera. — And be careful of what is today called "Christian movies", be very careful because most are not bible centred, the poetic licence they abuse causes more damage than direct secular contents, and like Rev. John C. Hutchison would often say, "half truth is more dangerous than a full lie".. 

I write to you because Paul the Apostle warned us concerning satan's "mind games". The Spirit of God through these words, is cautioning you and getting your attention, yours is to yield. If I've been able to get off this opium, you also can! Truly.
